The Head of U.S. Government Relations will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing Zoom’s public policy strategies across the United States. This leadership position involves engagement with federal, state, and local governments, as well as with key stakeholders such as trade associations, think tanks, and advocacy organizations. The successful candidate will ensure that Zoom’s executive team remains well-informed on critical policy developments while proactively influencing government relations to benefit the company’s growth and operations.
Reporting directly to the Head of Global Public Policy and Government Relations, this role requires an experienced professional with a strong background in policy advocacy, regulatory affairs, and government engagement within the technology sector.
About the Team
The Global Public Policy and Government Relations team functions as Zoom’s interface with governments worldwide. This team is responsible for:
- Monitoring political and regulatory developments that may impact Zoom.
- Developing comprehensive policy strategies that align with the company’s business objectives.
- Representing Zoom’s interests before policymakers, regulators, and other key stakeholders.
- Enhancing Zoom’s global reputation by fostering positive relationships with policymakers and industry leaders.Key Responsibilities
The Head of U.S. Government Relations will lead Zoom’s policy advocacy efforts by:

Policy Monitoring and Strategic Advisory
- Keeping Zoom’s leadership informed about relevant policy developments at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Evaluating how government regulations and legislation may impact Zoom’s operations and competitive positioning.
- Advising senior executives on emerging regulatory challenges and opportunities.

Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy
- Establishing and nurturing relationships with policymakers, industry leaders, and advocacy groups.
- Representing Zoom before Congress, regulatory agencies, and executive branch officials, including the White House, the Department of Commerce, and the Department of Homeland Security.
- Leading Zoom’s participation in U.S.-based trade associations and industry coalitions to align with collective policy initiatives.

Thought Leadership and Public Affairs
- Driving Zoom’s thought leadership in Washington, DC by engaging with think tanks, policy organizations, and academic institutions.
- Collaborating with Zoom’s media and press teams to shape a strategic communication approach tailored to public policy discussions.
- Delivering public speeches and participating in key policy forums to enhance Zoom’s presence in the policy landscape.

State and Local Government Relations
- Overseeing engagement strategies with state and local governments, including managing policy consultants and industry partnerships.
- Addressing regulatory challenges related to digital communication, data privacy, and cybersecurity at the state level.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in law, public policy, business, economics, international affairs, or a related field.
- Minimum of eight years of experience in public policy, government relations, or regulatory affairs.
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. legislative and regulatory processes.
- Prior experience working with federal and state government officials, trade associations, and regulatory bodies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and media experience.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders across multiple business functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (JD, MBA, Master’s in Public Policy or Political Science).
- Experience working in technology policy, particularly in areas like privacy, cybersecurity, and online safety.
- Background in legislative affairs, lobbying, or corporate government relations within the tech industry.
- Proven ability to influence government policies and regulatory decisions in favor of corporate interests.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills to navigate complex political landscapes.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range:
- Minimum: $150,800.00
- Maximum: $329,900.00
