Role Overview:

We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Unit Manager – Human Resources, Learning & Development to join the HR team at Bajaj Finance. This is a strategic role that involves end-to-end management of the functional school, focusing on training need diagnostics, designing and delivering learning interventions, and measuring the impact of learning. The role also involves coordinating with business teams to align learning strategies with business goals, ensuring effectiveness, and maintaining a high level of operational excellence in learning and development programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Training Need Identification:

A significant part of this role involves understanding the long-term and short-term objectives of the business, identifying training needs, and tailoring learning interventions accordingly. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Gaining a deep understanding of the business’s challenges, objectives, product portfolio, and customer profiles to design learning programs that address specific needs.
  • Identifying the learning and development requirements of various business units by engaging with stakeholders and assessing gaps in skills and capabilities.
  • Preparing detailed diagnostic reports using tools like BEI (Behavioral Event Interview), FGD (Focus Group Discussions), surveys, and psychometric assessments to identify group and individual learning needs.
  • Regularly meeting with stakeholders from the business, COE (Centers of Excellence), and HRP (Human Resource Partners) to understand the nuances of the business and propose tailored learning solutions.
  1. Content Design and Delivery:

As the Senior Unit Manager, you will play an integral role in designing and delivering customized learning programs. Key tasks include:

  • Creating and co-creating effective learning content for various learning formats, including classroom training, Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT), and self-paced learning.
  • Ensuring that all learning content is relevant, engaging, and aligned with the business’s objectives, with a strong focus on measuring Learning ROI.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure the training content meets business goals and is delivered effectively through the most appropriate channels.
  • Coordinating with business teams to ensure content delivery follows the scheduled timeline and is updated regularly to reflect new business needs and learning outcomes.
  1. Measuring Training Impact:

One of the core aspects of this role is measuring the impact of learning programs. You will be expected to:

  • Continuously assess the effectiveness of training interventions, measuring both participant feedback and the business impact of the learning programs.
  • Implement mechanisms to track and evaluate the success of the learning programs, such as pre- and post-assessments, feedback surveys, and other metrics to gauge improvement in employee performance.
  • Collaborate with business units to measure the final impact of learning interventions on business outcomes, and use this data to refine future training efforts.
  1. Training Operations, Reporting, and Logistics:

The Senior Unit Manager will be responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of training programs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing day-to-day training operations, including scheduling sessions, handling queries, creating and managing training calendars, and maintaining necessary logistics.
  • Handling periodic reporting on the status of ongoing and upcoming learning and development programs, ensuring that reports are accurate and timely.
  • Ensuring all learning and training interventions are properly documented and stored in a structured format on the company’s cloud platform.
  • Auditing learning interventions by attending training sessions (both in-person and VILT) to ensure that training effectiveness is maintained and that the programs are delivered as expected.
  • Assisting with data collation and backend research for continuous improvements in the learning programs.
  1. Stakeholder Collaboration:

Collaboration with internal teams and stakeholders is key to this role. You will be expected to:

  • Work closely with business leaders, COE, and HRP to co-create learning programs that are closely aligned with business needs and objectives.
  • Build strong relationships with senior leaders in the organization to understand their learning priorities and to ensure that learning interventions are impactful and relevant.
  • Regularly share insights and updates on learning initiatives with stakeholders, keeping them informed on progress and outcomes.
  1. Data Management and MIS Reporting:

You will be responsible for maintaining accurate data related to learning and development activities. This includes:

  • Regularly updating the learning management system (LMS) and other relevant platforms with training records, content, and feedback.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of training reports and providing timely updates on training completion, attendance, and evaluations.
  • Using tools like Excel, PowerPoint, and other reporting software to present data in a clear and concise manner to business leaders.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Essential Skills:

  • Learning & Development Expertise: Hands-on experience of 3-5 years in the Learning & Development space with a deep understanding of adult learning principles.
  • Instructional Design Proficiency: Strong proficiency in instructional design and content creation, capable of developing high-quality learning materials for various formats.
  • Training Need Analysis: Ability to assess and identify learning needs based on business objectives, using tools like BEI, FGD, surveys, and psychometric assessments.
  • Training Delivery: Proficiency in delivering training programs using a range of learning modalities, including classroom training, VILT, and self-paced learning.
  • Learning ROI Measurement: Ability to measure the effectiveness of training programs and their business impact, using both quantitative and qualitative metrics.
  • Technology Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Knowledge of Power Query or Power BI would be a plus.
  • Stakeholder Management: Strong ability to interact with senior leaders and business stakeholders, understanding their learning needs and aligning training interventions accordingly.

Desired Skills:

  • Digital Content Creation: Experience in creating digital learning content, including e-learning modules, videos, and interactive content.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple training projects and deliverables simultaneously.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly to senior leadership.

Educational Qualifications:

  • MBA in HR is required.
  • UG Qualifications: A background in B.Tech/B.E. in any specialization is preferred but not mandatory.
