Position Overview as a Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer
As a Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer, you all will play a crucial role in designing complex fluid and gas systems that meet nuclear safety and industry-specific regulations in the company. You’ll work on a part-time telework basis and as well as full time work after the initial onsite phase and contribute to a mission-critical environmental project as a whole person in work.
Key Responsibilities in Bechtel
Design & Technical Execution
- Lead the design of mechanical systems for WTP process facilities in company process.
- Create and review the process of Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), technical calculations, drawings, and design reports in various fields.
- Generate various material requisitions, equipment specifications, and engineering deliverables for further process.
- Ensure compliance with industry codes (e.g., ASME, DOE, ISO) and Bechtel’s internal standards should be met.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers to learn more about process.
- Coordinate with multiple disciplines and stakeholders for smooth work process and their concern, including clients and cross-functional teams.
- Contribute input to project scheduling, project undertaking, progress tracking, and trend reporting.
Quality & Safety
- Support the Nuclear Safety Quality Culture.
- Ensure deliverables should be meet strict technical, budget, and timeline requirements according to the company guidelines.
- Uphold Bechtel’s safety, environmental, friendly and regulatory expectations.
Required Qualifications in Bechtel
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering with 5–8 years of relevant experience in this field. Freshers not allowed.
- OR 9–12 years of progressive related engineering experience in lieu of a degree important .
Technical Skills
- Proficient in:
- Fluid system design
- Hydraulic calculations
- Mechanical equipment sizing
- System-level engineering for nuclear, refinery, or chemical facilities
- Experience working under QA programs such as:
- ASME NQA-1
- MIL-Q-9858A
- ISO-9000
Additional Requirements
- Candidate must pass pre-employment drug screening and background checks.
- Candidate must be eligible for a DOE security badge.
- Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and other terms and conditions applied.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in DOE or DOD facility design process.
- Prior work experience in various nuclear or waste processing facilities.
- Strong project planning mindset and document control experience must have.
- Effective communication skills for inter-disciplinary collaboration and client interaction.
Telework & Work Schedule in this company
Bechtel company offers part-time telework flexibility to all their employees for this full-time role. Initially, you will have to work on-site in Richland location, after that transferred to a hybrid work setup once onboarding is completed by company.
