Position Overview: What Does a Process Development Associate Do?
As a Process Development Associate, you’ll play a pivotal role in advancing Amgen’s drug development pipeline. You’ll be part of a collaborative team conducting vital experiments, analyzing data, and supporting the creation of scalable processes that bring life-saving medicines to patients.
Your Impact Will Include:
- Performing experiments to support process development for synthetic small molecules and oligonucleotides.
- Conducting analyses using advanced chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques.
- Documenting findings meticulously in an electronic lab notebook.
- Presenting analytical results to development teams and project stakeholders.
- Working cross-functionally with scientists and engineers to optimize manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities: Where Science Meets Execution
Analytical Testing & Experimentation
- Select appropriate methodologies for small molecule and oligonucleotide testing.
- Prepare and analyze process samples, release samples, and formulations.
- Utilize HPLC, GC, Karl Fischer (KF), and other analytical tools for precision testing.
Data Management & Documentation
- Record all experiments using Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Leverage electronic lab notebook systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Reporting & Communication
- Share key findings with cross-functional teams.
- Contribute to technical reports, SOPs, and regulatory documentation.
Process Improvement
- Support senior engineers and scientists in developing scalable and efficient drug manufacturing protocols.
Required Qualifications: What You Need to Apply
To qualify for this role, you must meet at least one of the following academic and experience-based requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED + 4 years of relevant scientific experience
- Associate’s Degree + 2 years of scientific experience
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
Preferred Qualifications: Stand Out as a Candidate
If you bring any of the following, you’ll be positioned for success:
- Master’s Degree in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Life Sciences, or Engineering
- Hands-on experience with laboratory techniques (HPLC, GC, KF)
- Familiarity with analytical instrument maintenance and troubleshooting
- Exposure to GMP environments and QC testing
- Strong understanding of synthetic chemistry and drug development workflows
