Position Overview: Business Analyst – Data Analytics

In this role, you will work across cross-functional teams, helping shape the future of American Express’s benefits strategy, optimize customer engagement, and identify emerging market opportunities. You will have the opportunity to influence strategic negotiations with partners and unlock value through analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced analytics to evaluate partner value propositions and strengthen negotiations.
- Develop a robust opportunity landscape for new benefit partnerships.
- Use data storytelling to translate complex datasets into actionable business recommendations.
- Perform in-depth analysis of customer behavior and market trends to support partner strategy.
- Design and implement effective MIS systems and performance trackers from both internal and partner perspectives.
- Identify high-potential merchants and industries to expand loyalty and benefits portfolios.
- Present key insights to leadership and stakeholders, influencing product direction and strategy.
- Collaborate with teams including Business Development, Product, and Lending.
Qualifications & Skills
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Computer Science or any related quantitative field is required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Technical Expertise
- Proficiency in data analysis tools: SAS, SQL, Python, R, or similar.
- Experience working with Big Data platforms.
- Knowledge of machine learning algorithms, data mining, and predictive modeling.
- Strong command of Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization tools.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills.
- Ability to synthesize complex data into real-world insights.
- Strong problem-solving and collaboration mindset.
