Job Description:
As an Accountant – GL, you will be an essential part of Oracle’s finance division, contributing to the accuracy and efficiency of our accounting processes. You will play a critical role in accounting functions, ensuring that financial statements are accurate and compliant with internal and external auditing standards. This includes working with various stakeholders to ensure the timely and correct book close, conducting in-depth reconciliations of balance sheets, and improving overall accounting practices within the organization. Your expertise in General Ledger (GL) accounting, R2R (Record to Report) processes, and other financial activities will be instrumental in enhancing the company’s financial reporting and audit readiness.
The Accountant – GL is expected to perform tasks related to financial reporting, book closure, and audit coordination. The role will also involve closely collaborating with both internal and external teams to address accounting issues, implement improvements, and ensure timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Accounting Systems Management:
You will maintain the general accounting systems, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Your role will involve ensuring that Oracle’s financial data is reported accurately and aligns with both internal and external regulations. - Monthly/Quarterly Book Close Activities:
The core responsibility of this position will be to manage the monthly/quarterly book closing process, which includes ensuring all financial data is entered correctly, any discrepancies are resolved, and financial reports are prepared on time. - Balance Sheet Reconciliation:
Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations will be a key responsibility. You will ensure that all balances are accurate, properly recorded, and consistent with the overall financial records of Oracle. - Team Training and Development:
You will train new team members and provide ongoing education on accounting practices and Oracle’s financial systems. This training ensures that new recruits are well-equipped to contribute effectively to accounting activities and supports Oracle’s long-term financial objectives. - Audit Coordination:
This role involves coordinating with both internal and external auditors for various audits, including SOX, Tax, Statutory, and Internal audits. You will be responsible for ensuring that all audit requirements are met, and any discrepancies or issues raised during audits are resolved promptly. - Transition of Accounting Activities:
Working with the finance department, you will assist in the transition of accounting and analytical activities, ensuring that processes are streamlined and financial functions are optimized. - Project Representation:
You may represent the finance team in various regional or global projects, offering your expertise to improve the organization’s accounting practices and systems. - Operational Issue Troubleshooting:
Your role will involve identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving any operational issues that arise in the course of accounting activities. You will collaborate with other teams to address issues promptly and prevent recurrence. - Process and Reconciliation Improvements:
As part of your responsibilities, you will contribute to ongoing process improvements. You will identify areas where efficiencies can be gained, and work on improving reconciliation processes to reduce errors and increase the accuracy of Oracle’s financial data. - Interaction with Finance Controllers and Business Finance:
You will interact with Finance Controllers, Feeder Processes, and Business Finance to address any issues, improve communication, and ensure that financial processes run smoothly across the organization. - M&A Entities Accounting and Audits:
This role will also require you to manage M&A entities‘ accounting activities, including the preparation of financial statements, book closures, and coordination with auditors to ensure that all necessary processes are adhered to.
Required Qualifications:
- Educational Background:
The ideal candidate must be CA/CMA or equivalent, with at least 2-4 years of post-qualification experience in accounting. A strong academic foundation and professional certification are crucial to succeed in this role. - Experience in Accounting Systems and Financial Reporting:
You must possess hands-on experience in general ledger (GL) accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. - Familiarity with R2R Process and Closing Activities:
A thorough understanding of Record to Report (R2R) processes and the closing activities associated with financial reporting is critical for this role. - Taxation and Profit & Loss Accounting Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of taxation, profit & loss accounts, and general accounting processes is required. - Experience in Internal and External Audits:
A background in working with audit teams, both internal and external, including SOX compliance, is a significant advantage. - Experience in M&A Entities Accounting:
Prior experience with accounting for M&A entities, handling their book closures, preparing financial statements, and dealing with auditors is beneficial.
