💼 Job Overview: What Does an Account Manager, Retention Do?

As an Account Manager, Retention, you will play a critical role in managing and extending relationships with T-Mobile’s valued Government clients whose contracts are maturing. You will recommend personalized solutions, negotiate contract renewals, and ultimately drive client retention and satisfaction.

Your efforts directly contribute to customer loyalty and long-term business success, all while unlocking uncapped earning potential with a base plus commission compensation model.

💰 Compensation Details: Earn What You’re Worth

  • Total Target Cash Pay Range: $65,200 – $117,500 (includes target incentives)
  • Base Pay Range: $45,640 – $82,250
  • Additional Incentives: Monthly or quarterly sales incentives
  • Compensation Depends On: Work location, experience, and qualifications

🧭 Key Responsibilities: What You’ll Do in This Role

🔁 Retention & Relationship Management

  • Manage a portfolio of Government clients with expiring contracts.
  • Use a proactive, persuasive approach to renew contracts and upsell enhanced services.
  • Collaborate with internal Government Sales Reps to ensure customer retention and uncover new business opportunities.

📊 Strategic Sales Planning

  • Research and implement retention strategies that align with financial controls and business goals.
  • Conduct gap analyses to evaluate evolving customer needs and craft innovative solutions.

🛠️ Problem Solving & Project Management

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve account issues and streamline account transitions.
  • Handle complex assignments involving:
    • Sales
    • Technical Support
    • Customer Care
    • Supply Chain Operations
    • Billing and more

💡 Consulting & Reporting

  • Develop subject matter expertise in your customer segment.
  • Use tools like Salesforce, funnel management software, and forecasting dashboards to track success and communicate metrics.
  • Lead retention projects involving documentation, financial analysis, and requirement gathering.

🧠 Required Qualifications and Skills

🎓 Education & Experience

  • Preferred Degree: Associate’s in Business, Finance, or Sales
  • Required Experience: 2–4 years in sales, account management, or customer service
  • Experience with gap analysis and requirements gathering is highly valued.

🛠️ Technical & Professional Skills

  • Microsoft Excel: Proficiency required (formulas, pivot tables, data visualization)
  • Microsoft PowerPoint: Ability to design and deliver data-rich presentations
  • Customer Service: Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Process Improvement: Proven experience optimizing operations and enhancing service quality
  • Wireless Acumen: Understanding of wireless products, plans, and market trends (Preferred)
  • Sales Process Expertise: End-to-end sales process knowledge from prospecting to contract negotiation
