As a Director of Corporate Insurance and Risk Management, you’ll lead strategic initiatives in risk analysis, policy procurement, claims resolution, and enterprise risk modeling—all while contributing directly to the stability and resilience of the world’s largest airline.

The Corporate Insurance and Risk Management team is a vital function within our Treasury organization, tasked with safeguarding the company’s assets and operational continuity through robust risk mitigation strategies. In this role, you’ll report directly to the Assistant Treasurer and will:
- Set and execute the strategy for enterprise risk management.
- Oversee insurance procurement, compliance, and claims handling.
- Develop and maintain enterprise-level risk models.
- Engage with brokers, insurers, underwriters, and regulatory authorities.
- Lead a team of claims and insurance professionals.
🧭 Key Responsibilities
🧠 Strategic Leadership & Risk Modeling
- Build and maintain dynamic risk models covering areas like aviation liability, property, worker’s compensation, financial and cyber-crime exposures.
- Partner with operational and financial leaders to identify and mitigate cross-functional risks.
- Drive risk modeling efforts to inform executive decisions and Board-level strategies.
🔐 Insurance Procurement & Captive Insurance Management
- Collaborate with brokers to evaluate market trends, negotiate terms, and purchase insurance policies.
- Lead relationships with insurance carriers and conduct renewal roadshows and advisory council interactions.
- Optimize insurance solutions through AA’s captive insurer; ensure regulatory filings and operational efficiency.
📑 Contractual Risk Management & Claims
- Support departments with insurance-related contract language negotiations.
- Manage aviation and property claims, subrogation efforts, and settlement negotiations.
- Ensure timely issuance of Certificates of Insurance (COIs) and reporting of aircraft damages.
📊 Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Align claims accounting with finance and controllers.
- Work closely with safety teams and workers’ compensation specialists to improve claims handling processes.
- Represent AA in industry trade associations and risk-related regulatory discussions.
🧾 Required Qualifications
🎓 Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (Business, Risk Management, Finance, or related field).
- 7–10 years of progressive experience in insurance and risk management.
- Insurance certifications (e.g., ARM, CPCU, CRM) preferred.

- Proven expertise in risk strategy and insurance portfolio management.
- Executive presence with ability to handle high-stakes negotiations.
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
