Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) to join our leadership team within Apollo Debt Solutions, part of our Credit Business. The CAO will oversee all accounting and financial reporting for the fund, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and other applicable regulations. This key leadership position will work closely with senior management, auditors, legal, compliance teams, and fund administrators to maintain the integrity of financial operations and reporting.

As the CAO, you will be at the forefront of ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial operations while continuously reviewing industry trends and best practices to optimize our processes.

Key Responsibilities

As the Chief Accounting Officer, your role will include:

  1. Financial Reporting
    • Oversee preparation and presentation of the fund’s financial statements, ensuring compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SEC regulations.
    • Ensure the fund adheres to regulatory requirements under the Investment Company Act of 1940, SEC rules, tax laws, and relevant regulations.
  2. Accounting Operations
    • Collaborate with internal accounting teams to maintain the accuracy of financial records.
    • Develop and refine operational processes for financial reporting, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
  3. Audit & Internal Controls
    • Lead the external audit process, working closely with auditors to provide all necessary documentation and information.
    • Monitor and enhance SOX/internal controls to safeguard the fund’s financial assets and prevent errors.
  4. Valuation of Assets & Liabilities
    • Ensure accurate valuation of the fund’s portfolio, including investments, debt, and derivatives, in accordance with pricing and valuation policies.
    • Regularly assess the valuation methodologies to align with industry standards.
  5. Risk Management
    • Collaborate with risk management and compliance teams to identify and mitigate financial and operational risks.
    • Ensure adherence to internal risk frameworks and reporting standards.
  6. Investor Reporting
    • Work with internal teams (sales, marketing, and product support) to ensure the integrity of investor reports and financial disclosures.
    • Provide transparent and accurate performance metrics and financial insights to stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  1. Educational Background
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
  2. Experience
    • 10-15 years of relevant experience in accounting, preferably within asset management, private equity, or BDC sectors.
    • Expertise in SEC reporting and preparation of Form 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and other filings specific to BDC or similar regulated entities.
    • Strong command of GAAP principles and accounting standards.
  3. Skills & Abilities
    • Proven ability to communicate complex financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders, including senior leadership and board members.
    • Experience managing audits and ensuring regulatory compliance.
    • In-depth knowledge of financial operations, risk management, and internal controls.
  4. Technical Proficiency
    • Familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial modeling tools.
