Role Overview
The Underwriting Senior Analyst plays a critical role in analyzing and evaluating credit portfolios, financial reports, and underwriting guidelines to assess financial and risk factors impacting clients. This position requires expertise in financial analysis, risk underwriting, and understanding of GAAP financial statements.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Financial & Credit Risk Analysis
- Analyze and evaluate credit portfolios and financial reports, including interpreting financial data and assessing market trends that could impact operations and financial performance.
- Assess creditworthiness and financial strength of clients using qualitative and quantitative data from institutions such as S&P, Moody’s, and Fitch.
- Provide recommendations for risk rating and classifications.
✅ Risk Underwriting & Portfolio Assessment
- Conduct underwriting analysis of financial statements, mergers & acquisitions, claims and litigation, regulatory developments, liquidity positions, and overall corporate governance.
- Evaluate cash flow trends, industry-specific risk factors, and economic market conditions to determine underwriting eligibility.
- Ensure due diligence and compliance with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite of Accenture’s financial division.
✅ Data Interpretation & Reporting
- Complete intricate financial statement spreading to ensure financial ratios are accurate for risk assessment.
- Interpret balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and stockholder equity changes to assess financial health.
- Support Underwriters and Credit Officers in buyer administration by setting up accounts, performing automated credit limits, and gathering buyer information such as financial reports, credit history, and industry research.
✅ Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Work closely with internal teams, credit officers, and underwriting teams to ensure thorough evaluation of risks.
- Communicate findings through well-structured reports and presentations to senior management.
- Provide financial and risk insights to help clients make informed decisions.
Qualifications & Skills Required
🎓 Educational Background
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- CPA or MBA preferred.
📌 Technical & Analytical Skills
- 5-8 years of experience in corporate credit analysis, underwriting, or financial risk assessment.
- Expertise in analyzing US GAAP financial statements.
- Ability to interpret financial ratios (profitability, liquidity, leverage, solvency) and apply them to risk assessments.
- Familiarity with the US Industrial, Commercial, Capital, and Consumer sectors.
- Understanding of macroeconomic factors affecting financial risks.
🛠 Industry & Risk Management Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of corporate credit analysis, mortgage underwriting, and risk management principles.
- Previous experience as a credit analyst, credit risk analyst, or equity financial analyst in a bank or financial institution.
- Proficiency in credit reporting, claims management, and financial risk assessment.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to present credit assessments to internal and external stakeholders clearly and concisely.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to provide underwriting recommendations.
